I do not pre-soak seeds in anything .... if seller suggests it - then follow their instructions
for ease - use single peat pots & trays - trays will fit 18 peat pots - in case of heavy rains its easier to move many at a time ...
single peat pots make transplanting easier
added bonus - peat looks dry when its time to water
use sand - or -Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix - or similar ...this mix is more sand than peat moss
3" peat pots (actual size 3-3/8" x 3-3/8" x 3-3/8")
3" size fits standard nursery trays = 18 peat pots = (3 x 6)
pre-fill peat pots with straight sand - or - Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix
saturate ....poke shallow divot w/ finger ....place 1 seed per divot ...barely cover with mix
keep damp - but not dripping wet
place tray outside to soak up warmth but out of direct sunlight ....
Pic show trays sitting on north facing patio
peat pots will absorb moisture ....water when peat pots appear dry ....
seeds should sprout in less than a week
\
gradually introduce seedlings to more and more sun light ...to full sun
when plants get their 2nd or 3rd set of leaves - water - then tear down 2 or 3 sides of peat pot - transplant 1 plant (including starting mix) per pot
once transplanted ...begin fertilizing
