The species iris tectorum looked wonderful this year. Lots of people know these as Japanese roof iris as they were often planted in thatched roofs. A bonus is they have a long bloom time, even in very warm temps. They like partial shade which expands options for iris in a garden.

The fierce spotted crest down the falls in the first pic really shows off why they are in the family of crested iris.
