I fell in lover with this next iris when it was a seedling out in the fields of Mid-America. I am so happy to have it blooming in my garden now.
Shockaholic:
This is Pale Yellow, an unregistered wild collected LA. It blooms every single year and increases nicely. Lots of early LA's that were finally registered were collected from the wild and of unknown parentage.
You don't see chimera as much in LA's as on bearded iris, but here is one on Pale Yellow. One of the standards is fused with a fall.
This is what I call Laev Noid. It came up in the middle of my laevigata last year. Probably a seedling of Peaches In Wine since they are similar and Aitken's used to carry Peaches in Wine. Laev had nicer form last year, but last fall it was planted in ground and it grew several increases. Will see how the form does next year.
There is some variation from bloom to bloom of the swirled colors of the standards .
Snow Spoon will become an historic iris this year, it turns 30. It is really a great grower in my garden.
