My Best Friend:
When strife wouldn't cease,
your wagging tail and fur brought me peace
and when I felt the peace, I'd thank God
for blessing me with a dog
so happy and full of life
and now when I look on the memories
I feel like I want to pet you again
But I can't, so instead I pick up a pen
and remember you.
I wish you hadn't gone,
but at least I was with you so long.
I know it seems silly, but I feel so sad.
The hand of death took away
your life so you couldn't stay
I miss your bark and with habit,
I'll remember it every time I step out the door.
And when I remember you, I'll thank Him more
for having blessed me with a dog,
so happy and full of life.
No action, no strife
can keep me from missing you.
and in time, things may fade and fog
but you I know will stay in my thoughts; a wonderful dog. ❤️
