I apologize for my ignorance, but what exactly is cottage gardening? *Blush*

I too believe it had British beginnings as an alternative to the ''formal''gardens .
A place with both ornamental and useful plants
A lot of different plants rather crammed together...perennials ,annuals, shrubs, veggies and herbs
A rather untamed garden that still is pleasing ....even if only to the gardener.
..a balanced life is worth pursuit.
