Here is what happened with mine heucheras. I bought six heucheras just before the winter started. I was hoping they could overwinter in the porch, but they all died. The one that survived had been bought a little bit earlier last year. Since I brought lots of oak leaves to my garden last fall, my old heuchera (Palace Purple) loved it and got much bigger leaves this spring. Encouraged by the success of oak leaves, I bought a bunch of heucheras to plant this year; Palace Purple, Obsidian, Timeless Night, Black Olive, and Carnival and some green ones. They are all planted by now and they look happy. They will have enough time to harden before the winter. Hopefully, my heucheras will really take off next year Crossing Fingers!
