A category in the list would be a workable solution, potentially. I'm willing to give you whatever you want, including a custom feature that you could access, I would really need it spelled out very clearly how you wanted it.
We currently let people post comments about each plant. What if we extended that and allowed you to post a "Moderator's Comment" that was flagged in such a way that it was clear that it was moderator-only information. I could (if you preferred) make it so that only you could see the comments, if you felt that was important.
I could then make a separate page where you can view a list of all the plants that have a moderator's comment associated with them.
Am I thinking along the right lines here?
