There are quite a few different problems that onions can have... so far I've been fortunate to only have one "pest" that has damaged my plants! (Ziggy the cat enjoys rolling on them Rolling my eyes. ) I have more plants started that I'm going to put in the ground in my hoop house after the tomatoes are done, to hopefully harvest as scallions in the early winter; and also have ordered some sets of a variety called "Forum" from Johnny's that I'll plant in the larger greenhouse to overwinter and, presumably, harvest early next spring/summer. Only time will tell how successful these plans will turn out to be, although a few years back I did save some of the sets that I bought locally in the spring, planted them in the early fall under a "low tunnel" of clear plastic over PVC hoops, and harvested a lot of what I called "bonus onions" the next spring - so I think fall planting the sets in the GH should work well.
