Maybe geraniums+ clay pot is the trick. Because the ones our grandmas had were probably in clay.
My cuttings have some (tiny) new growth. Still a long ways from sure success- I think they could put out a new leaf even if the bottom of the stem is starting to rot under the soil surface.
Plant it and they will come.
