What makes me smile is that with most printer manufacturers, I doubt if they actually make their cartridges. Seems far more economic to buy them in from a dedicated cart manufacturer.
It's a bit like golf balls. They can change the name on them in mid-run. There was a "How It's Made" programme on golf balls on TV, that showed this.
I think "fill levels" in carts, might vary, but I've no information about that.


I've not bought a branded cart for nearly twenty years, the ones I'm buying currently are no different in appearance from the original ones supplied with printer, just the label.
