Murky said: I've never had a printer fail from ink issues, and I've had printers over 7 years old that I finally couldn't finagle even with editing installation packages to get them to work with newer Windows. Or I finally couldn't stand how slow the printing was and just wanted a faster printer. But I've never replaced one because ink somehow ruined anything.

With my Epson that gave the message that it was past its useful life, I knew that the waste ink reservoir was propably nearly full, so occasionally, I just wrapped kitchen roll round as pencil and poked it down the small hole I could see when I opened it up. I did that a few times, so it wouldn't overflow and end up on my desk.
But if I kept the heat on in that room, which is otherwise rarely used, as much would have probably evaporated.
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like 'em myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings." (Philip Marlowe to Vivian Rutledge).
