For tatting, you need a shuttle. 50+ years ago, I made enough lace for our first daughter's christening dress. Recently I found my shuttle and wondered, "Do I still know how to tat?" Sure enough, after tying a few knots, I was back onto it. Just like riding a bicycle, I suppose!
