I had to skip ahead. I missed a lot. The photos look great tho! I made struffoli with Sophia today. An all day affair. She brought a nice pumpkin bread she fixed. It was perfect..texture and taste. I fixed choco chip cookies with the two younger girls a few days before ..a ginger molasses, a choco chip with a bit of espresso.. a vanilla fruit and nut biscotti, and a double chocolate biscotti.. I was washing mixer, counters and floors between batches on cookie day. Today was much more organized with the older Sophia. I also made a tomato sauce with pig tails and feet, roasted meat balls, sausage ..that's for the Christmas Day lasagna. I don't dare tell the kids what meat went in the sauce.. but it sure came out good. I will put the lasagna together tomorrow.
Sophia had a big dish of cabbage for lunch ..I fixed it with uncured bacon and cannellini beans..lots of onion and garlic.. . She loves that stuff. .
I went out to a dinner with a friend after a winter solstice walk downtown Wednesday.. conducted through the downtown Riverwalk path. Hundreds were there with homemade as well as store bought lanterns ..it was cold! But clear. ..some lanterns were stunning.. little fairies were twinkling with battery driven lights in their hats and skirts under winter coats ..
Crafts and food trucks before ..we waited until after to eat. I had a great BLT with local farm bacon, a nice tomato, and red pepper jelly.. with a side of collards replacing the fries.. my friend had a smashed burger ..also with the collards.. I had a mug of hot tea. She had a local beer. I took home a small margarita pizza ..bill with tip..$87 bucks! Whoa.
