elaine i have one of them cactus , i missed the flowers opening every time (saw them in the morning when they were closing). The buds get alot bigger than that, there so big they look like there going to snap off the plant before opening, then when they do open for the one night there dinner plant size. I tried to find a pic of mine for you but cant seem to find it among all my photos. They were white but mine is the pitaya (yellow dragon fruit). Ive had a few flowers but only one friut, there not very nice tasting anyway.
