I actually grow it in MG potting soil right out of the bag. The full size blooming tubers are about the size of a grape, so I'm a little cautious about letting it get too dry.
Mine is on the east side of the house and gets about 2 hrs of morning sun, then its pretty bright all day. I think the hot afternoon sun would fry them. I fertilize once a month or so. During the dormant period I kept some completely dry and some I gave a little water once a month --both were fine.
