Mary Stell sounds like you have added good amendments to your peony's , they like 7.o ph alkaline. They will grow in clay with amendments added mine have done well for many years.
Thank you Karen for your advice on this peony side branch. It's planted in damp soil . Slightly buried I already put cinnamon on the bottom to stop viral integration …
soil or air. Slightly covered barely up to the eyes. Not sure if adding aloe to the hollow rotting area of the side branch will help grow roots….which is where the eyes are sprouting now planted barely 1/4" just damp soil? The woody branch hollow section is starting to decompose once that begins wondering if roots can start from the eyes slightly growing above the rotted area.
I guess at this point I have involved everyone in this woody branch experiment. This will be fun if it works or not. It a learning experience and appreciate all the advice.
Open to all suggestions.
The eyes are still growing and pink. If they turn brown could be tricky . It reminds me of potatoes growing eyes , culling the cut side the bury with eyes up then waiting for new growth…
I’m so busy... “I don’t know if I found a rope or lost a horse.”
