Here's a new pic of my Artichoke patch. Linda, one of my plants started to have a black smutty looking area near the crown. I pulled off the leaves that looked dead, and rinced off the blak area, and now it's sending out a new shoot. I don't know if that's the same thing that killed your plants or not.
My largest bud, now about 2 inches diamiter, and quite firm yet.

The whole row, as you can see my "bush type" cucumbers are not so very bush type! Peppers on the left, and an Iris bed, Potatoes on the right and some corn ect.
