I always do fine seeding wood violets by digging a clump, and rinsing the rootball in a bucket of water.
The bucket of water will be full of seeds... toss dirty water in area where seedlings are desired... Replant original clump.

In my area... violets tend to grow prolifically... On occasion, I find it worth while to dig clumps out of the veggie beds and give to chickens.

As far as the rest of the lawn? Sounds good!
