I did that once, then the Brug died! And this time, the frost came early and the whole plant with the flowers were a sorry sight---so I did not do anything. I read somewhere that 7 is where the Brug will survive---so I had been checking all the time, and finally there it was! Could not believe my eyes-----So Chantell, please tell me how to fertilize it.----I did not do anything to my roses, something was noshing their leaves, and black spots everywhere. I just do not like to spray my roses because I love to smell them------Maybe with soapy water? I got rid of the Japanese beetles, spraying the roses with the soapy water of the dead beetles. They never came back------Took out most of the Dr. Huey branches, still have to dig out the roots, need to wet the soil, to be able to reach the roots of Dr. Huey---which usually is massive-----Last fall still no signs of Dr. Huey----there, that is why now I only purchase own roots roses====
