Marilyn - in pots with drain holes they do have to be kept well watered. But the fact that your one down by the creek is thriving (
) gives me another chance to dispel the myth that LA's have to be in water all the time. Many places, especially those who grow them in the North, plant them in ground. As do I in North Carolina. Once they are established they can even withstand periodic drought. In warmer areas their drying out a bit will put them into dormancy. In the north you want to keep them watered regularly to keep them from going into summer dormancy because then they will be dormant over the winter.
