Thanks. It's from a picture I took of potted heux in front of the lectern @ MCC.
Cinta, A lot of us are frustrated this year. I lost 11 new ones within 6 wks of planting in part shade including 6 out of 9 Paprika. The lost ones have villosa breeding and all the other heux in the same beds are fine. It's a lot of money to waste and I don't have the answer as to why they died. If I took a picture there would be nothing to see but a few black stems. Because of some nutrient overload from over fertilization 3 years ago, I have had soil tests done in every bed amd they are all within the normal range. Stainless Steel is new here this yr and not a problem at all as well as Spellbound, which is a new favorite. What I like about the trial is there are older and newer cultivars.
I just put the list above in Excel and highlighted the ones I have and added the others I have that are not being trialed. And as I went through the list, my statement earlier re: the heux from TPP and TD have never been a problem is correct. I would be happy to send you some of them and I'm sure they will do well for you in PA.
On a side note, whenever I find out what days MCC will be open without reservation I'm already planning to have a luncheon here with some Delawarean heuxheads and then we're going to the center with cameras. All of you guys are welcome too. I live right off I-95 and you can hop in my car and I will drive you. You could spend days just shooting all the native plants on the paths.
