I doubt you can grow an artichoke from an artichoke from the store. Rooting hormone won't work because its the wrong part of the plant. You can grow an artichoke plant from a root cutting or a division but not from a flower head or a stem. I guess you could leave it sit until it bloomed but you wouldn't get any seeds as the flower wouldn't be pollinated. Best to buy some seeds.
