So I was thinking the other day, wonder if Frank will start a tall daylily thread this year.
As Jackie Gleason would say: "And Awaaay We Go! "
This year, in my Bucks County, PA garden, many of my talls are averaging a few inches shorter than last year. Somewhat surprising, as we've had much more rain this season, especially June and July. Autumn Minaret is my tallest right now; haven't yet measured.
Photo below:
Extreme front left, buds only, 'Sears Tower' at 58 inches.
'Sears Tower' (Goldner, 2000), registered scape height 72 in, (183 cm)
Foreground right, 'Red Hill, at 52 inches.
'Red Hill' (Reed, 2004) registered scape height 42 in, (107 cm)
I have several clumps of 'Red Hill'. They never grow below 50 inches here.
Starts the day a true bright red, somewhere between Ferrari and Corvette red.
Need to catch it early, though, not very sunfast. Looks fantastic all day on cloudy days.

'Heavenly United We Stand' at 54 inches
'Heavenly United We Stand' (Gossard, 2009) registered scape height 51 in, (130 cm)
Heavenly is having a great year. Last year, impatient from waiting for this slow grower to reach its potential (slow increase here), I bought a huge clump from Mary Burgents at Morningstar Daylilies in NJ. The wait is over.
To the right of Heavenly, 'Bermuda Coral' at 51 inches.
'Bermuda Coral' (Marvin, 1986) registered scape height 45 in, (114 cm)
Another daylily that takes a while to reach it potential. Gets better every year in my garden.
Far left is Lilium 'Miss Feya' at approx. seven feet.
