I live in the woods Colleen. We have a lot of wildlife, and that includes rats and field mice. I never had a problem with them before this year. For some reason they found my greenhouse and like to eat things like new ginger and heliconia shoots, the berries developing on my Anthuriums and the new very small seeds and seedlings. I started protecting my seed crops and sprouting seeds with this cage. We also have squirrels that do the same thing. I haven't figured out how to get rid of them yet.
I don't poison, because that only kills other wildlife. The bird/coyote/snake/fox that eats the poisoned rat/mouse will also die. I trap with humane live traps and drive the mice 10 miles away and release them in the woods somewhere else
