I agree with Stone, but for myself, I'd skip the asking for forgiveness part! Hilarious!

Since you have coyotes there, I'd keep it an indoor cat and not let it roam outdoors. They have automated litter boxes now, would require very little care, and you'd have a great companion and mouser to help keep your house free of rodents. Just the constant scent of a cat around I've found can keep mice out.
