Camellias are evergreen in many parts of the country with mild enough winters. But when your winters reach Zone 6 ratings like in the northeast, they may drop foliage and leaf out in the spring. Water deeply the night before and maintain 3-4" of mulch. Consider protecting with sheets if practical.
