Jo I noticed the plants you have received have all been pretty much neglected. Lucky for you the ones you have posted are succulents which are easy to root.
When these plants are old and/or neglected the bottom leaves drop off and the stems get long even with good care you will get long stems.
I just cut them off with a couple of inches of stem to place in the soil and still have some stem above the soil let the cut end dry for a couple of days. Then plant in the soil and they root themselves in about 3-4 weeks.
You can even grow a plant from the leaves of the plant you have. When a leaf drops off I let it lay on top of the soil and it starts to grow roots at the bottom of the leaf.
