Lisa, if you are willing to go East on Lee Hwy [RT 29, in City of Falls Church it is called South Washington Street or North Washington St. --street sign is green; Fairfax County has blue street signs, and Arlington has white street signs. In Arlington Rt. 29, formerly Lee Hwy is now called Langston Boulevard] about 1/2 hour to 1 hour drive to City of Falls Church, and eat at Luzmary (Bolivian restaurant) they have delicious Pikante beef tongue--one my favorite dishes, but not cheap. Then also Saltenia, I like the beef one, very good, also their Chicharon-----this is a big portion, and their special drink made from hydrated peaches called Mogochinchi. There is also an excellent Vietnamese restaurant on Rt. 50 (Arlington Blvd) called Present. I can also meet you there. Or you can go Eden Center near Seven Corner, the shopping center for Vietnamese restaurants and stores, where you can get 22 karat gold jewelry, a herbalist selling all kinds of herbs to cure, also stores celling tropical plants. On Saturday and Sunday Asians from Florida and also some local Asian family selling plants they propagate. I do not know where it is located. There used to be also a garden selling tropical vegetables in the warm months in Annandale Rd, but they were trying to sell it (2 acres) so I have not been there at all). They used to sell plants too. In Eden Center is the Chinese grocery story Good Fortune, that sells food already made with rice---they have lots of spicy dishes--also fresh durian, frozen durian (whole or already in boxes), all kinds of tofu. There is also H-Mart where you can purchase chicken backs for broth---meat (pork, beef, chicken) for bulgogi or galbi all kinds of already made Korean dishes, including sushi and sashimi. And Korean breads-----their French bread is pretty good too. I just discovered when I came late, the leftover bakery items were sold for 50% off! ---I am not very familiar with what they were selling. I saw for the first time last week live Alaskan crab, peering at me from the aquarium at Good Fortune. Lots of fish and that was where I saw already soaked sea cucumbers. Lots of Pork and Beef. I probably would buy their small chicken slaughtered locally, but I do not like to see those huge chicken wings----I purchase my chicken at Safeway or Harris Teeter---Pretty soon a huge Wholefood is going to open. There is also an Italian Restaurant that I have not been, but their desserts they say are very good. I still miss their predecessors Argent, they all of a sudden were gone. Very good Italian restaurant---I love their steaks, and they're Bucatini all'Amatriciana. LOTS of choices. If you love Italian sandwiches, there is one in Langston Blvd. Delicious, they also has wonderful ice cream (The Italian Store 5837 Washington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22205)
