If i could get some thoughts, advice or opinions on a few questions concerning the last CC's i propagated i would be very grateful?? I babble think everyone knows by now but will say sorry up front for the long post. Group hug

1st. did i not let them grow roots long enough? Put to many babies in one pot after they rooted & i potted them?

How long should they be left in small containers growing roots? How long do they need in the nursery as my hubby calls it. Rolling on the floor laughing I keep them in our bed room on his dresser Whistling in front of the window & dare anyone to touch them, even my grandson will tell you leave our baby santa plants alone!! Rolling on the floor laughing We decorated a christmas cactus tree last year. Lovey dubby

Is there something you look for new growth or do you just check for roots, before you put them in their own pots? I Rooted mine in 1 shallow container.I used a drain pan off of an old flower pot,i didn't think about disposable cups etc.. i am saving containers now for the next group that goes in the nursery, but all of the ones i had did root!

2nd,How many rooted cuttings should be potted together & I know the pot can be to large but can a small pot be to deep?

I have some pots that are small maybe 3 inches but they are probably 4in. long or deeper, i'm guessing that's a no no Thumbs down I have a problem with perception of size or depth, length of things including pot sizes because of the brain lesions, if the size isn't on the pot i get out the ruler! Moving plants up 1 pot size sometimes takes a little extra attention on my part. I re-potted a lipstick plant the other day, just eye balled the pots ended up putting 6in.plant into a 10in pot. Then went on a mad search for an 8in pot.

3rd.& last question,JB, mentioned a mix of 1 part potting soil,2 parts peat,1 part perlite.

That's for rooting them or to grow them in?If it's rooting I have found a mixture that works really well for me.

Moma used to say it's my way,not the right way or even the only way!! :iagree:

I am going to try this mixture to re-pot my CC's.I have a friend that really doesn't like the look of perlite and she uses aquarium gravel in her soil,it looks nice and is the same size as perlite. She also uses it in her terrarium.
Any thoughts on using the gravel in place of the perlite?.
A green thumb comes only as a result of the mistakes you make while learning to see things from the plants point of view!!
