It hurts to cut them but when I really got into nicer daylilies I had one I got a single fan of Star bright {I think} in spring, it increased like mad, and bloomed straight till Nov, then it never recovered. I had a prolif, but it's never done well either. I always wonder if I had cut scapes it would have been stronger and made it thru the winter.
