Not sure if your comment was meant for me or another post. The only place I use bricks are inside the bottom of the containers to help give them more weight to keep Chicago's high winds from blowing them over. Especially since I use Ups-A-Daisy inserts to not waste more soil than I need to fill the larger containers. This year I swapped a few planters to ones with flatter bottoms and haven't had one blow over this season even with the plastic inserts that raise the soil, so I'm thrilled about that.
