Quite by accident, I placed my first "order" of a daylily for Spring 2024 delivery. Scott Elliott spoke at our daylily club meeting last Saturday and had an auction of some of his plants. I expected that the auction would be like previous club auctions in which the grower brings the bare root plants to the meeting, and we take them home and plant them. However, being so late in the season, Scott was actually auctioning off plants which will be delivered in the spring to our club president, and then dispersed at a club meeting. Shrug!

Anyway, most of the bids went way too high for my budget, but I finally won "Mayor of Cornatzer". I didn't realize it at the time of the auction, but this daylily won a 2023 Award of Merit. Hurray! I also didn't realize it at the time, but I paid $15 above the price listed on Scott's website. Sad Typical of daylily club autions, I've heard. Sticking tongue out As hubby says, "Profits are going to a good cause". Rolling my eyes. : Hopefully I'll get a nice big double-fan in the spring which grows nicely in its new home. Crossing Fingers!
