We FINALLY got a little bit of rain this morning. The headline in today's paper says "Rain on its Way'. We're supposed to get between 2"-4" this weekend. Even without the rain, it's a relief to have overcast skies and cooler temps. I just may get some things planted!
The drought is the worst here since they started keeping records, back before we were the state of Kansas.

Yikes!
I'm most nervous about how much the ground has dried out around my foundation. I'll find out this weekend if the basement leaks. We spent a fortune repairing the foundation last year. Judging by the cracks in the ground, and the way a few doors no longer close properly, I'm probably looking at more repairs. I've been watering the trees, trying to save them, when I should have been focusing on watering the foundation, keeping the ground from shifting. I had soaker hoses on one side of the house and I messed up by not putting them all around the house. Silly me, thinking I didn't need to water if I didn't have flowers there! oops. Big mistake. If it's not one thing, it's another...... Crying
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
