We can't grow the old fashioned lilacs down here - the ones down here are the Persian lilacs ( I think I remember) and they have no fragrance. But no, won't do well in a container at all. Vitex do have fragrance, probably also need ground planting. Frisco is in a strange in between area of caprock and prairie and scrub trees. Container plants, well, most plants have blooming cycles, so you only get a few times of fragrance. Sorry, will keep thinking on it.
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!
