I moved 'Calico Spider' in 2022, which will sometimes set a plant back a bit for a year or so. Not the case with 'Calico Spider'. I divided it, gave two-thirds of it away, and replanted it into a new location in 2022. In 2023, it came back gangbusters!

This summer in late July:

'Calico Spider' is a strong bloomer and tosses out polys as casually as a cloudy day might toss a passing shower. It holds up well to afternoon sun (never fades) and to rain (neither spots or runs) and it just 'pops' against everything planted around it.

This is not a bashful bloom tucked shyly into a corner, it more than holds its own. It has good substance, does not tend to tatter in a breeze, and handles cold winters with aplomb. On 32-inch scapes, it does not get lost among the foliage ... and, with extended bloom, the flowers outlast pretty much all the daylilies around it.

It does not just 'survive' here, it thrives here! Again, I believe this daylily is under-appreciated and would do well in any cold climate garden. But if you are looking for something that stands tall and stands out ... a real eye-catcher in the garden... I would recommend 'Calico Spider' without a bit of hesitation.
Life is what happens while you are making other plans.
