Strawberries require a minimum of 6-8 hrs of full, direct sun each day, regardless of whether they are June crop berries (short day plants - produce buds in the summer before the following years harvest); day neutral plants are only mildly affected by day length and are capable flowering and fruiting throughout the summer months; long day or ever-bearing strawberries bloom in early spring and early summer and produce a harvest in late spring and late summer/early fall.

FWIW, and though it's a technical issue, it's not really day length that determines a plant's response to photoperiod, it's the length of the dark period that counts.
