Thais
I bought Thais a long time ago because I was looking for Munson plants to add to my gardens, and I noticed when I was checking them out that a lot of the cool kids were using Thais in their breeding programs. Boy Crazy (Davisson), Heavenly Dopplar Effect (Gossard), Gothic Window (Hanson) were among the hybridizers I really respected that had used Thais. Morss registered several daylilies wtih Thais as a parent, and even Polston registered one.
I'm no fool. I added it, too. I had noticed lines keep perpetuating, moving forward, and I was thinking it might be nice to circle back to some proven older genetics every once in a while to see what happened.
I don't have it in a great location, so I'm not tracking stats on it. But when I do get a scape or two, I try to think of something "new" that I could circle back and cross this older, proven Munson with.
As you can see, it has an unusual watermark, and it does seem to advance it's genetics in unusual ways to its kids.
I've certainly had some unusual seedlings come from those efforts.

But I have plenty that look more like they belong to Thais. I gave some friends a tour this summer and they chose this Thais child as the pod parent for a cross they made. And so the line continues.
