How about an old red barn? Or an old white picket fence?
That's where i remember seeing historics. Way back in my childhood, driving through the country, I remember yelling at my parents to stop the car so i could jump out to smell the iris that escaped into the ditch from the fencelines. Seems like everybody in Missouri and Arkansas had iris out by the road. The pretty newer ones were kept up by the house.
