@TomatoNut95 Anne, I agree with your thoughts on winter. Grumbling Grumbling I grew up in Minnesota and left the cold climate over 50 years ago. No offense but by the time I read your post, you have me laughing. Rolling on the floor laughing Thank you.

I am sad for the hardship the cold puts on people, plants, pets and wildlife when the weather becomes this harsh but I try to look at it as one day closer to springtime.

I was amazed that even with the hard wind blowing, we didn't suffer any power outages. My water is out but that went out before the temperature dropped. A week ago, my well man told me I needed a new pump. Being self employed, I said let me wait till after tax time. The pump didn't. It went out Sunday when I was in the shower. With this cold weather I told him to wait till it warmed up. I can get by using rainwater to flush and wash with and I keep drinking water as I don't care for the sulphur taste of my well water.
I am not too worried about frozen plumbing. I was married to a northerner who buried water lines deep. I had the house redone with pex line and that is proving to be very durable.
This morning the lowest temp the greenhouse recorded was 31 and this afternoon I noticed many tender plants wilting. With one more cold night, I will see what survived next weekend. Crossing Fingers!
