Interested in conifers? There are quite a nice variety of dwarf conifers. I am I have several, green, golden, blue. I am very interested in a dwarf weeping blue spruce (Picea Pungens) which can be shaped (while young) to take on weird contorted shapes. There are also evergreens. I think that no tree does not "drop its leaves" eventually in some way. Zones 3 to 7 (some online sites say 2-8). Hardy to -40°F. They get no taller than 5-10 feet with 5 to 6 feet being normal. Kids like them because they have a nearly "living" appearance. They are adorable. I would plant them with some smaller golden firs or junipers. Maybe a few large rocks. I'm planning on getting one in the spring. Not my picture. Used for education purposes only.
