I am doing a kind of partial rock garden. I have a raised bed-- originally using cinderblock which was kind of "low-rent," but I found a small landscape company and am getting rocks, by the month, and replacing the cinderblocks with these rocks. They were 30 cents per pound. It will take a few hundred to make the complete border. In the mean while, I have kept the rocks somewhat far apart, and have put sedum and sempervivum in the cracks. These are local rocks-- found in this area of the country. I like the reddish color as it sets off the plant's green color well. You can see that the back of the box still has cinder blocks.
