One of the things that really makes me smile every spring is one lone pink hyacinth that I planted in the fall of 1993 still surviving from a cheap bag of 5 picked up at one of the box stores. It was one of the first things that I ever planted here. As far as something eating them, I always thought hyacinth bulbs were poisonous - a quick google search is so contradictory - some say poisonous and left alone, some say squirrels and chipmunks...
