Haven't seen any sign of growth from my yellow lady's slipper. Maybe this rain will get the ball rolling. The daffs and hyacinths are providing some color to this drab time of year. The hyacinths were very slow to get started but have perked up this past week. Still not as good as they were a few years ago, as far as color, but the bulbs are at least 7 years old. I remember reading that the lifespan of hyacinth bulbs is around 5 years. I dig and store these every spring after blooming because I also use that bed for dahlias. I think I might buy new bulbs this fall.
