Thankful for my social assistance helping to cover medical expenses. While I feel bad using their benefits, it's helping immensely right now.
My medications are around $500 a month. They're covering all but one of them.
I just had an assessment done on my knee and they wrote me a prescription for custom orthotics that are going to be $595. Benefits cover $500 of that assuming they'll provide a written estimate before I commit.
I got fitted for a new brace as well because my old one isn't working for me. It came to $123 which I had to pay myself. But the fact SA is covering the orthotics and meds made it possible for me.
And lastly, I have dental work estimated at $600 that SA said they'll cover as well.
So needless to say, I immensely appreciate them because none of this would be possible without them. Once I get working again, I likely won't have benefits (it's rare for jobs to have benefits here), so I won't be able to afford any of it. I also have a $400 injection I need for my knee, but that's also got to be out of my own pocket. So I'm trying to get it all done asap while I have SA.
