I wouldn't take persimmon care advice from a peach farmer. Apples and oranges. Persimmons should be fertilized only when the leaves indicate a nutrition problem.

Persimmons do drop fruit if the crop is too large for the tree to handle but too much (or too little) water and over fertilizing are the main causes of fruit drop.
