Oooo guess what?! Everyone can easily propose a forum thread photo to be directly reviewed for inclusion in the database. Its a great way to get images that are already uploaded to ATP through forums to a place in the system where they are preserved and protected forever, and will help those who are using the database to search for a plant. Here is an edited version of Dave's post about it:
Click on the image in the forum thread and that opens it to a full-sized image. At the bottom of the full-sized image is a link that will say, "Import to Database." Click it, and if the picture is already in the database it will tell you that. If not, it will ask the name of the plant and pull up a list of possible matches. Select the matching plant entry and this creates a proposal that will be reviewed by the moderators. If approved, you get half an acorn and the owner of the image gets 1 acorn. The owner of the image is, of course, fully credited/copyright protected as the owner of the image just the same as when they submit it directly to the database themselves. Your help just gives their photo a nudge in the right direction!
