The largest clump I potted and placed in a watering/feed trough which I tried to make sure didn't dry up. A new oil drain pan would dry out in a few days. Two small, one or two crown rhizomes, are in ground in front. All had large dose of 10-10-10 worked in and regular heavy MG (a few tblsp. crystals sprinkled on then watered in). In ground had triple the recommended dry moisture crystals worked in. After reading a scientific study noting that some crystals are fragile and shatter, especially when hydrated, I opted to work them into the soil dry w/the fertilizer. They received heavy watering once or twice a week as conditions dictated. The soil here is very organic and loose as tenders get dug up since '09.

This is either C. 'City of Portland' or a mislabeled NOID. Treated the same in ground and huge, 8-9'.

Edit: I hope you were taking about size, otherwise??
