Crows steal my shiny metal tags, and my dogs chase off the squirrels, so I can't answer your question about squirrel thievery. I doubt the wooden tees last longer than 2 seasons. Plastic will last longer unless you step on them. I use them mainly to mark the spot until i can get a good metal marker in place. At times, I've resorted to using plastic silverware to mark bulbs, too. The black plastic doesn't look quite as bad as the white. I've written the name of the bulb on the end I stuck in the ground and it actually stays readable.
Hope that helps...........seems like I've tried everything and I still occasionally fork a bulb.
Sticking tongue out
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
