oh, goodo. I've never benched anything at Claremont - being a bit of a hermit and missing the local info. I was raised in the northwest lilium society, and periodically made pilgrimages back there to shows. Aside from knowing some of the local names and being an intermittent Glenbrook (surely there are fewer reputations or personalities or contributions to garden treasures larger than Rod Barwick?) and Harvey customer, I've 'lilied' here in relative isolation.

But Rod Barwick is famous for flowering gloriosoides (as well as the Claremont show and 'Trumpeter') ... are you related?

(Egads... hope I have not created offence in any of my ignorance >>)

This year I think I'll make an effort to see Claremont. If I have any stems left (most my lilies are early, I seldom have anything in January), maybe I'll even participate. If you need a rusty but qualified extra judge, or are happy to have someone potter about observing, helping and learning from your show processes, I'm around Smiling What is the local participation like?
