I think it would depend on what zone you are living in.
Here in zone 5, ours are planted in the spring. It doesn't take long for them to sprout.
We feed the birds sunflower seeds and believe it or not, every summer we have lots and lots
of sunflowers to enjoy. They plant themselves,
